KATTER'S Australian Party is hoping to team up with disgraced Cook MP Billy Gordon to push through their plans for regional Queensland.

The party's Mt Isa MP Robbie Katter and Dalrymple MP Shane Knuth voted with Mr Gordon against the LNP's proposed change to voting orders.

The Opposition push, if successful, would have given the major parties the power to effectively cancel out Mr Gordon's vote.

But Mr Katter told ABC radio on Wednesday he hoped to work with Mr Gordon in regional areas' best interests.

Mr Gordon told Queensland Parliament on Tuesday he did not deliberately mislead parliament when he denied claims he had not paid child support.

He has denied domestic violence accusations.

Mr Katter said Mr Gordon's indigenous heritage should be taken into account when considering the domestic violence allegations.

He said he was not parliament's "moral barometer" but the allegations against Mr Gordon had not been proven.

Mr Katter suggested Mr Gordon be given the same courtesy as controversial former MPs Peter Slipper and Craig Thomson.

He laughed off LNP claims Labor's rejection of its proposal dismissed "all chance of new standards in the house".
