Keep your noise down

CHRISTMAS revellers are being warned to keep the noise down this festive season.

Leading up to Christmas, Rockhampton Regional Council receives an increase in the number of noise complaints lodged from residents across the region.

These complaints vary, involving noisy revellers and loud music, and typically with people taking holidays at this time of year, air-conditioners and pool pumps are operating more than they usually would.

Residents are urged to talk with their noisy neighbour before contacting the council or police.

If your neighbour is having a party and there is excessive noise either from people attending or from music, the council advises people to contact the police as this is outside of council jurisdiction.

Further information about these issues is available from the Department of Environment and Resource Management or by contacting council’s Customer Service Centre on 1300 22 55 77.
