Kernaghan's Hall of Fame honour ahead of CMC Rocks

AUSTRALIAN country music legend Lee Kernaghan will be presented with the CMC Music Awards' Hall of Fame honour on the eve of CMC Rocks.

On the following day, March 24, the music icon will launch a new album to coincide with the start of the massive three-day festival at Willowbank, Ipswich.

"I'm really pumped and excited to be launching my new 25th Anniversary Album with a song at the awards and then hitting the stage with The Dixie Chicks at CMC Rocks," Kernaghan said.

"There's no doubt south east Queensland will be the centre of the universe when the Awards and CMC Rocks hit town."

The CMC Awards are the only fan-voted country music awards in the southern hemisphere and will be held at The Star Gold Coast (Jupiters) for the first time.

Twenty-five years on from the release of debut album Outback Club, Kernaghan's CMC Hall of Fame Award nod will recognise his contribution to the country music industry in Australia and his work paving the way for other Aussie artists to get a start.

Kernaghan will perform at the awards ceremony he described as "a star-studded night of high-octane country music," in a line-up that also includes Little Big Town, Kip Moore, The MyClymonts and Travis Collins.

There is still time to vote for your favourite performers at www.cmcrocks.com.
