CCBA chairman Kerr quits LNP position in Landry's office
WITHIN weeks of the Federal election being called, campaign manager for LNP candidate Michelle Landry has quit.
Gary Kerr, also chairman of the Capricorn Coast Business Alliance, did not want to comment on his resignation, saying he would prefer to leave that to LNP state director Brad Henderson.
He denied he had been approached to run for mayor in a de-amalgamated council.
"It's the first I've heard of it. I don't know anything about that," he said.
"I'm prepared to look at it. I'm prepared to look at anything, but at this point, I have no desire to put my hand up for council," he said.
"No one has been canvassing that stuff."
Ms Landry said Mr Kerr wanted to focus on other issues he had with de-amalgamation and with his own business.
"We didn't realise it would be an eight-month campaign, and it's not a paid position," she said.
"It's a huge commitment and you can't expect people to take that amount of time out of their businesses."
