Kids set to kick off

THE Total Football Academy has a range of soccer programs about to restart for the year in Yeppoon and Rockhampton. All coaches are current or former players with extensive experience. Coaching co-ordinators Blair Grice and Roy Bob are delighted to have a couple of Dutch and English coaches to work with this year, as well as all of last year's coaches.

"We will once again have fun based programs aimed at developing young children's dexterity and co-ordination, with soccer as the base inside the inflatable pens. With the older children, we will be focusing on skill and technical development, with an emphasis on the Coever Coaching System," said co-ordinator Blair Grice.

In Yeppoon, the mini-kickers program for children under eight will kick off on February 7, at 3.30pm at the Cooee Bay Sports Complex. All registered players will receive a free playing kit for the program.

There will also be a Saturday Super 5s and Mini-Kickers program in Rockhampton.

This will kick off on March 17 for three to 11-year-olds, with an under 10 team playing in the local soccer competition under the Berserker Soccer Club.

"The Saturday Super 5s is great for parents, who don't have the time or live out of town, to get their children to a training session and then a game on the weekend," said Grice. He said the Super 5s enabled all this to be done at one time and one venue, for any child between the ages of three and 11. "We have children as far away as Dingo and Dululu, who travel in on a Saturday to play in our program."
