Kings overcome arch-rival Hawks

AN amazing shooting display by the Sydney Kings helped them overcome arch-rivals the Wollongong Hawks 92-81 on Friday.

Sydney shot at 52 per cent from the field and 71 per cent from beyond the arc in their most impressive shooting display of the season.

The visiting Kings built a handy double-digit lead in the first half before absorbing the Hawks' own long-range shooting barrage as they nailed 10 three-pointers for the second half.

''There was a lot of character tonight. There were times that a young group like this, with key players out, could have folded,'' Kings coach Shane Heal said.

''We got the momentum back and guys stayed with it, we made big shots, but our defence for three quarters was just so good again I felt like we were able to take away their strengths for most of the game.''
