Left faction of the Labor Party is fed up with Miller

THE LEFT faction of the Labor Party wants Police Minister Jo-Ann Miller axed from her ministry, a senior party source has told the QT.

The move by Ms Miller's own left faction comes as Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk prepares to mull over whether to expand the current 14 cabinet positions before Christmas.

The pressure is on Ms Miller due to the gaffes that have plagued her since Labor won office in February.

"They have had a gutful of her," the source told the QT.

"Her own faction wants to get rid of her (as Police Minister) but the hierarchy are saying that might be going too far. Wiser heads have prevailed and they are considering giving her a minor portfolio where she can't stuff up, but is still a minister and gets the same pay."

The source said the fear in the party was that Ms Miller "could quit or sit as an independent" if she was ejected completely from cabinet.

"Labor is on a knife edge of one and Billy Gordon is a wildcard," the source said.

The QT's mail yesterday was similar to what was reported on ABC online where another senior figure was quoted as saying that "the left are moving against her - they would like to move her on".

"She's in over her head. It's the culmination of the issue of competence, bad behaviour, poor judgment calls and a lack of contrition when she does make mistakes," the source told the ABC.

Ms Miller' has had a long running feud with Labor Party stalwart and Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale.
