Vegas awaits cheering youngsters

TEN girls from Yeppoon's Aussie Cheer and Dance will be jetting off to Las Vegas next April after being chosen for a team to represent Australia for the 2012 JAMfest National Championships.

They tried out at the Down Under Spirit Championships at the Gold Coast Comp in June and they were successful, with the team made up of girls from all over Australia.

Head coach of the squads Julie Tickner said the girls had been doing really well and keeping up their training.

"I am so proud that we have 10 of our local cheer squad going in this competition," Julie said.

"The experience the girls get from going on one of these tours is awesome."

The girls who've made it through are Keerah Smith, Tanisha Mulholland, Maddy Schick, Kayla Davis, Chantal Pegg, Daisy Mylrea, Kirsty McArthur, Gabbie Williams, Alix Mackawe and Angela Gregory. The girls are from senior and open squads.

If anyone would like to help out or sponsor the girls with their trip, call head coach Julie Tickner on 0419 760 123.
