Richard Laver launches wellness shake in Australia

SEEING his daughter happy and healthy is Richard Laver's greatest life accomplishment.

The 42-year-old cousin of Rockhampton tennis great Rod Laver said it was the frustration and concern he felt for his daughter's wellbeing which spurred him to create Kate Farms Komplete wellness shakes.

Richard said his young daughter, who had been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, was once underweight and struggling.

"The shakes were inspired by Kate; she was 16 pounds at four-years-old and we were desperate," he said.

"I researched every super food I could find and tried to create a rainbow spectrum of antioxidants to deliver to Kate, and once she started to get well we could even take her off the medication.

"We thought, wow, there must be a lot of Kates out there."

The shakes are an organic, vegan, soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, non-GMO and hypoallergenic creation which Richard made himself in search of a suitable meal replacement alternative for Kate.

Now his daughter was well, Richard said his new mission was to get his shakes, and his message, out to the rest of the world.

Despite now living in America he said it was his affection and connection with Rockhampton which spurred him to launch his new wellness shake in Australia off the back of US success.

And although his parents also lived overseas, the family were so set on following their Rockhampton-born tradition that his pregnant mother flew here from the US so he could be born on Central Queensland soil.

"I have family history in Rockhampton and it is part of the Laver story... this is another part of the story that we can share with Rockhampton," Richard said.

"I have heard a lot of stories about Rockhampton and the tennis family and the amazing traditions. All the things that came out of it is our legacy.

"We launched the US a few years ago and had incredible success here and so we wanted to come back to Australia first, to my home in Rockhampton."

The shakes will be stocked in Go Vita's 150 stores Australia-wide.
