IF YOU want your lawn mowed quick-sharp, Dave Andrews is your man.

While the Yaamba local doesn't actually do much lawn mowing, he sure knows his way around a lawn mower.

Andrews had the Central Queensland Lawn Mower Racing Club cheering at the weekend when he powered to first place in the Un-modified V Twin 810cc Engine A-grade event in round seven of the Queensland Inter-Club Lawn Mower Racing Championships.

Andrews took advantage of being able to contest the event at his local track at Yaamba to finish at the top of the podium ahead of Jeff Wehlow from the Sunshine Coast in second and Ipswich's Kevin Breen in third.

In the B-grade contest, CQ competitors shone once more with Gracemere's Wayne Rawlinson clinching top honours ahead of Bundaberg's Trent Sanderson in second and fellow CQ driver John Kennedy in third.

Yaamba's Tarm Booy was unstoppable in C-grade and claimed top honours ahead of Renee Chilton and Chris Jackson from the Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast respectively while local junior Jye Kennedy took out the D-grade event.

Engines were also roaring in the outlaw class as racers young and old tore up the track in their highly modified full race V Twin 810cc engines and 400cc bike engines.

Sunshine Coast driver Mark Shipton proved unbeatable and took the top prize ahead of 66-year-old Yaamba veteran Ken Booy. CQMRC president Ken Booy hailed the event as a huge success for both the club and its members.

"It was one of the most hotly contested rounds this year with good clean competitive driving from all racers," Booy said.

"Racers came from as far afield as Ipswich, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Fraser Coast and Bundaberg.

"CQ Mower Racing Club scored its best ever results with local CQ drivers taking out most of the top places."
