Legal community recalls Justice Dutney

ROCKHAMPTON'S legal community will remember Justice Peter Dutney tomorrow during a memorial service held in the Supreme Court.

Justice Dutney, former Rockhampton Supreme Court judge, died on September 4 during an outback bike-riding holiday through South Australia.

The death of the 54-year-old, who suffered a heart attack near the mining town of Coober Pedy, shocked his many friends and associates throughout Central Queensland.

His funeral was held last month in Brisbane.

Justice Dutney, the 11th Central Judge, served in Rockhampton for almost eight years until he left in January 2008.

He was described as a brilliant judge with infectious enthusiasm.
