GEN Y: To forgive others is to live in peace with yourself
RECENTLY I have taken a particular liking to crystals and the beautiful, sparkly, rough, precious gems that they are. And the legends, history and healing properties that they contain.
Once I look into a new concept, I am fascinated by how much there is to discover. There are so many wonderful concepts and subjects to become emerged in and I find this to be such a great part of the learning that comes from our lives in so many aspects.
I was particularly touched by a legend I read about amethyst, the beautiful purple gemstone known for its love healing energy. One day the wine God, Bacchus, was mad about an insult and decided he would cause pain upon the next person he should meet.
Amethyst, a stunning woman, happened to be the unlucky person. As the pain was inflicted upon her, Amethyst searched for the protection of the goddess and was turned into a clear crystal.
Bacchus felt terrible about his actions and poured the juice of grapes over the beautiful crystal as an act of repentance, giving the clear crystal its purple colour.
To me that legend is about an offering; an offering of love, apology, repentance and remorse.
I believe that we should all strive to better ourselves and be more in tune with ourselves.
I particularly love and relate to this quote that I found a few weeks back. "I myself am entirely made up of flaws, stitched together with good intentions."
And forgiving hasn't always come easy to me. In fact, it's not easy at all. But I know that we each deserve to be able to live with ourselves and forgive both ourselves and others.
I hope that you can offer the juice of grapes to those who need your love and forgiveness. Let yourself pour the nectar of the grapes onto those who hurt you, criticise you and doubt you. Let yourself be open to pouring the nectar of the grapes onto those who you have difficulty with in your everyday dealings. Wish them light, love and happiness.
To forgive others is to live in peace with yourself. And to forgive yourself is to live in peace with others.
Pour the juice of the grapes onto yourself for those times you have hurt others. Offer the juice of the grapes to yourself for the times you haven't been true to yourself. And lastly, pour yourself a glass of the juice of grapes because you deserve it.
