Less is more in creating an elegant wedding
ELEGANCE, finesse and a touch of glamour were on show this weekend as 30 exhibitors presented at the CQ Bridal Showcase.
According to celebrant Leanne Smith, wedding concepts have changed markedly in recent years.
With 60% of marriages now performed by civil celebrants, Leanne says couples are making their special days more unique, even quirky.
"I once married a police officer and after the vows I had to read him his rights," she said.
"You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say can and will be used against you…it was very funny."
The region's newest celebrant, Courtney Abell, said people still loved to dress up and witness such a special moment.
But Judy from Judy's Wedding Bouquets and Hire offered this simple piece of advice.
"Write a wish list and be prepared to cut back on what isn't important…less is more," she said.
