LETTER: Make room for 4WDs in supermarket car parks

LETTER TO EDITOR: We too agree with Ann Rickard (FCC 20/03/15), four-wheel drives, big utilities with canopies and vans should have a special section allotted in the supermarket car parks.

Not only is it hair-raising to try to back out from between these monsters in a smaller type car (in some instances in a Falcon or Commodore) it is very dangerous because other motorists driving along these lanes do not want to stop to give way and sometimes cannot see the smaller car until too late.

Could we suggest that supermarkets and other businesses who have these types of car parks be requested by councils when applying for building permits to make provision for the parking areas for these oversize vehicles.

Years ago when we owned a four-wheel drive vehicle we were conscious of this problem even then and would have been happy to be directed to a special area.
