LETTER TO EDITOR: Hockey was right - work breeds success
TO ALL of you who think Joe Hockey is out of touch, I'd suggest you look at your own life experiences.
I bet the kid in your class at school who worked the hardest had the most success.
Billy Slater still trains the hardest at the Storm. Rupert Murdoch is still doing deals at 80-plus.
Don Bradman spent hundreds of hours with his stump and ball. Work breeds success.
Sydney is our largest city so competition for everything is more intense there than in other places across our fair land. It attracts the smartest, the most competitive, the hardest workers because the rewards are great.
What Joe Hockey was in essence saying is that if you want to be able to buy a house you have to work hard; a quality that he and many others of us understand as fundamental.
What do those of you who criticise his remarks object to? Me thinks you complainers are jealous.
You are certainly lazy in your thoughts.
Sure Joe is a rich man. He became rich by working hard. Surely just deserts for him and others who make the effort.
