Lightning strike starts fire at The Caves this afternoon

IT APPEARS yesterday's lightning and thunderstorm clouds have not finished with Central Queensland.

Firefighters are currently responding to a fire at The Caves started by lightning about 1.45pm today.

It is believed it is of a reasonable size and on Plentiful Creek Rd.

Meanwhile, Central Highlands and other parts of Queensland have been issued with thunderstorm warnings again today.

The warning was issued at 1.23pm for people in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts.

ISevere thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Toowoomba, Dalby, Gympie, Kingaroy, Boonah, Oakey, Taroom, Toolara Forestry and Carnarvon National Park.
