Fire warning for Lion Mountain

THE Queensland Fire and Rescue Service is advising residents in the vicinity of Lion Mountain, near Rockhampton, to finalise their bushfire plans and prepare for a fire that may impact their community.

A large bushfire is located in the Lion Mountain area, at Stanwell.

The large, fast-moving fire is travelling in a north-easterly direction and is expected to change direction to south-south-westerly late this evening.

The fire may impact the areas of Cunningham Rd, Broughton Rd, Tucker Rd, Lion Mountain Rd and Bond Rd within the next two to six hours.

Residents are advised to be prepared to relocate to a safer area if required.

Well-prepared and defended homes can offer safety during the fire and may be defendable.

Seventeen urban and rural fire crews are working to contain the blaze but firefighters may not be able to protect every affected property and residents should not expect a firefighter at their door.

Residents are advised to call Triple Zero (000) if their property comes under threat.

Regular updated information will be provided on the QFRS Rural Operations website at www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au or at www.fire.qld.gov.au or by listening to their local radio station.
