Lisa is at home on the water
GIVE Lisa Huff a night out under the stars over a night on the town any day.
The Rockhampton winner of this year's Women That Fish (WTF) Barramundi classic said she is most at home on the water, and wants other women to know that fishing isn't just for the boys.
In fact Lisa is so in touch with her rod and reel that she has won the WTF classic for the past three years in a row.
The classic is an annual event that has been running for the past four years to give women a chance to get confident in the water.
Men can participate in the classic, but only as skippers.
"I just like the outdoors, and it's good to get away from everything. It clears your head to get back to nature and try to catch a fish," Lisa said.
"I have always loved to fish but I wasn't very capable; but over time I have learned."
Lisa loved the WTF event because she can take her partner, Adam, out with her on the boat.
She said it was a simple and effective way to ease some women into fishing.
"I can't jump in the river and drive by myself because I am not confident enough to do the boat side of it, I am lucky I have a partner who is more than happy to take me," she said.
"And it is a good way, if you like to fish, to meet other girls who like to do it as well."
With bigger and better prizes coming her way each year, Lisa said she was always stoked to win.
But this time, she had other plans for her winnings.
"Because I own so much of my own gear, this year I let them know I wanted to share it among the other girls," Lisa said.
"We donated them all back and they were drawn out as the prizes.
"I got more enjoyment out of that than bringing all the prizes home."
