Livingstone council not beefing up its holidays
IT'S unlikely Livingstone Shire Council will approve a public holiday during Beef Australia 2015 after Rockhampton councillors voted against such a move on Tuesday, Mayor Bill Ludwig said.
Beef Australia 2015 organisers have also approached Livingstone Shire Council seeking a public holiday during next year's big event. While Livingstone is yet to formalise its position, Cr Ludwig on Tuesday said it would likely take its lead from Rockhampton.
"If Rockhampton is not doing it, there's no point in us," Cr Ludwig said. "It's highly unlikely Livingstone will now have one."
He said if Rockhampton had agreed, Livingstone might have brought its show holiday date forward for the beef event.
