Livingstone Shire carries out boardwalk maintenance

OVER three weeks, Livingstone Shire Council will carry out maintenance work on the Emu Park Memorial Walk.

Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Centenary of ANZAC Project Steering Committee Graham Scott said the boardwalk will be closed to the public at various stages during this time to allow for work on the boardwalk and handrails.

"Since ANZAC Court and the Memorial Walk opened for the Centenary of ANZAC Commemorations in April many local residents have visited the area to pay their respects.

"We want to make sure we're keeping this facility maintained to the standard it deserves and Council crews will be hard at work carrying out cleaning and sealing work on the Memorial Walk over the next three weeks," Cr Scott said.

The boardwalk will be closed at the following times;

  •  Monday 30th November: The boardwalk will be closed to allow for a full wash down and clean.
  •  Tuesday 1st December - Thursday 3rd December: The boardwalk will be partly closed to prepare the sealing of handrails.
  •  Monday 7th December - Thursday 10th December: The boardwalk will be partly closed during this week to allow for sealing of the decking boards.
  • Monday 14th December - Thursday 17th December: The boardwalk will be partly closed this week to allow for sealing of the remaining decking boards.

A further update will be provided once the maintenance work is underway.
