TOOWOOMBA man Michael Weise is looking wild after shaving a lizard into his hair to raise money for the World's Greatest Shave.
Oakey Beef Exports quality assurance officer Mr Weise volunteered to have a "lizardhawk" shaved into his hair and dyed electric yellow to raise awareness for those with leukaemia.
He said this was the first time he had participated in the World's Greatest Shave.
"My mother-in-law passed away from leukaemia in 2013 and the support we got from the Leukaemia Foundation was amazing," Mr Weise said.
"I wanted to be able to give back and raise people's awareness.
"You can't imagine the effect something like this has on people and their family until you experience it first-hand.
"My family is pretty solid and when my mother-in-law passed away everyone turned into rubble."
Mr Weise and his family have been donating to the Leukaemia Foundation for the past three years.
He has raised $1340 and is thrilled he has been able to do something unique to raise money.
Tracy Mason sculpted the lizard into Mr Weise's hair at Hair U Desire on Saturday.
Mr Weise said he was enjoying his new look.
"A lot of people didn't think I would actually go through with it.
"But to be honest, I am loving it.
"Before this I was growing my hair and it was just too hot, so this new haircut is keeping me cool.
"I am going to keep shaving around the original shape and will keep it this way until I get sick of it," he said.
The World's Greatest Shave starts tomorrow and is running until Sunday, March 15.
The Leukaemia Foundation predicts that 150,000 people will shave or colour their hair to support Australians with blood cancer.
