Police lock down street after 'brawl' with baseball bats

A LEAFY Redbank Plains street was put in lockdown by police yesterday.

Police were called to the house in Bruce St after 10am following a report that six people armed with baseball bats were attacking the people at the house.

The quiet street was locked down by police following the event after reports there was a handgun inside the home.

However, no charges will be laid following the incident.

According to residents of the street, a brawl broke out before police arrived and two cars were reported fleeing the scene.

However, the situation escalated once police learned handguns might have been present inside the house.

Bruce St was shut down by police who taped it off after six marked police cars and numerous unmarked detectives' vehicles arrived.

Police handcuffed several people at the house, separating parties on the street and inside the house grounds.

One woozy individual was handcuffed on the sidewalk, while other people sat on the road further up the street.

Another group was handcuffed on the ground inside the house yard.

Residents of the street said fights had broken out at the house in the past, but they were nothing like yesterday's incident.

One group of neighbours said they had seen police called to the house in the past. They said they saw two cars flee the house at speed.

But according to police, no complaints from the incident had been lodged, and no charges would be laid against those involved at the house or those who fled the scene.

Investigations into the incident are continuing, with police looking into the weapon seized from the house.
