Lorde brings Melodrama to Australia this November

AUSTRALIA and her homeland of New Zealand will be the perfect places for Lorde to unleash her musical melodrama in November.

A week ahead of the release of her much-anticipated second album Melodrama, the 20-year-old pop shapeshifter confirmed big outdoor concerts in Australia.

The Green Light chart star has booked a run of festivals in Europe and America during the northern summer and will kick off her world tour with six shows in New Zealand before heading here.

While it has been four years since the teen pop prodigy shook the airwaves with her breakthrough hit Royals and debut album Pure Heroine, Lorde instantly returned to the charts with the single Green Light in March.

That song reached top 5 on the ARIA charts and has had more than 131 million Spotify streams.

She followed the first taste of Melodrama with the single Liability and then last week with Perfect Places.

Lorde has already scored raves for her live performances to introduce her second album and was cited as one of the highlights of last weekend's Governors Ball festival in New York.

She was joined onstage by her Melodrama collaborator Jack Antonoff, who has emerged as a hitmaking producer since working with Lorde's friend Taylor Swift on her 1989 album.

In between festival performances, Lorde returns to Australia next month to play an intimate Nova Red Room concert at a secret Sydney landmark.

The Australian leg of the tour will take her to Kings Park and Botanic Garden in Perth on November 18, the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on November 21, Riverstage, Brisbane on November 23, Spilt Milk Festival, Canberra on November 25 and Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne on November 26.

The Frontier Touring pre-sale begins at noon on June 14, with the general public tickets available from noon on June 19.

Melodrama is out on June 16.
