Lots to do this Easter holiday around the Capricornia region

THERE is plenty to keep the visiting friends and relatives busy this Easter long Weekend and over the school holidays.

On Good Friday you can enjoy "Live on the Lawn" with acoustic soloist Ben Beasley.

He will play from 12pm to 4pm at the Keppel Bay Marina.

There will be a free jumping castle for the kids.

Nob Creek Pottery reopens this weekend.

The annual Easter Exhibition is a special celebration this year.

Botanic Gardens and Zoo reopen in time for Easter weekend

Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary is also reopening on Friday. It opens every day from 10am to 3pm. Animal shows are daily at 1pm.

Participants can hold snakes and lizards and pat koalas.

A swimming pool, paddling pool and barbecue facilities are all available.

Koala and crocodile encounters are $20 each.

The monkey encounter is $50 each and is highly recommended.

Mercure Capricorn Resort has a huge program planned for the Easter long weekend and the school holidays.

Helicopter tours, horse trail rides, face painting, camel rides and outdoor movies are available; plus the already long list of activities and fun waterslide.

Easter Sunday will be huge with a hot cross bun eating competition, a church service in the chapel, live music from 2pm, as well as outdoor movies.

All restaurants are open (Tsuruya, Billabong, Lagoon and Tropic of Cappuccino on Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday). Topic of Cappuccino and the Lagoon open on Easter Monday. Visitors not staying in-house can buy a day pass by phoning 4925 2525.

On Saturday, at Footlights Theatre Restaurant, check out "Barry the Brave" Lion Tamer extraordinaire and many other wonderful characters during a three-course dinner and two-hour comedy show for just $55 each.

Over the weekend, morning and afternoon tea and show is $32 each or lunch with a one-hour show from $37 each.

Koorana Crocodile Farm is open every day over Easter and the school holidays with a morning tour from 10.30am to noon, plus an afternoon tour from 1pm to 2.30pm.

Try a crocodile pie or ribs for lunch at the restaurant; you will not be disappointed!

Adults $28. Under-16s are $13, under threes are free.

Capricorn Caves is open every day over Easter, with Cathedral Cave tours departing every hour on the hour from 9am to 4pm daily.

Bookings required for family adventure caving at 10am and bats and bones (poo and spew) at 2pm.

Freedom Fastcats ferry service to Great Keppel Island will take place over all four days of Easter.

Daily services resume as normal from Tuesday, April 7 with extra services provided over the weekends.

Pubtastic at Keppel Sands (formerly Krabtastic) - Easter Saturday crab races and crab-tying competition - a great family event with the crowning of the "Crab King"!

It's a great weekend for sailing and while Funtastic is fully booked over the long weekend, Sail Capricornia do have availability for Easter Saturday.

It is advisable to phone both operators to check if there have been any cancellations!
