LUKE Skywalker makes his long-awaited return to iconic spaceship The Millennium Falcon in the latest teaser trailer for The Last Jedi.

Fans last saw Mark Hamill's character at the end of The Force Awakens where he was handed his old lightsaber by Rey (Daisy Ridley).

Prior to that, the last time he set foot in Han Solo's ship was in The Return Of The Jedi back in 1983.

At the beginning of the new teaser, Luke steps into the spacecraft, turns the lights on and looks around.

Fans will be hoping Luke will reunite with his buddy Chewbacca who is seen piloting the Falcon in another shot.

With a nod to his old mentor Obi Wan Kenobi, the bearded and hooded Skywalker goes on to train budding Jedi Rey.

But things don't seem to be going too smoothly with Rey begging Luke "to show me my place in all this."

She's seen powerfully swinging her lightsaber before Luke yells at her: "This is not going to go the way you think."

Elsewhere Adam Driver's baddie Kylo Ren is heard saying "let the past die" before he punches his way through a glass wall.

The action cuts to Supreme Leader Snoke's (Andy Serkis) throne room where he declares: "Darkness rises and light to meet it."

In another poignant scene, the late Carrie Fisher's General Leia appears looking worried in a control room.

Elsewhere, amid explosions and battles with TIE fighters, Finn (John Boyega) pilots along the salt flats of the planet Crait.

The new film is released on December 15.
