Lustica might get his chance for leaders

BRISBANE Roar coach Mike Mulvey has given a strong indication returning midfielder Steve Lustica will get some game-time against the Wanderers at Pirtek Stadium tonight.

Lustica, who played for the club last season, linked with Brisbane again this week after walking out on Adelaide United following a dispute with head coach Josep Gombau.

"Stevie's a pleasant surprise. We made him an offer to bring him here next season which he accepted," Mulvey said.

"The course of events that happened at his previous club really surprised me, but rather than leave him on the scrapheap for four or five months, we welcomed him in.

"He trained with us for the first time on Wednesday. He knows most of the guys and he'll travel down with us tomorrow."

Matt McKay (ankle) will miss this game meaning Diogo Ferreira (pictured), who has impressed in the past two weeks, will serve more time in the midfield.

"Why change a winning team? You've got depth, you've got possibilities and it's a good position to be in," Mulvey said.

"He (Ferreira) has started the past two weeks and taken his opportunity."

Mulvey said last season's 2-0 semi-final loss to the Wanderers has been a constant source of motivation for his team this summer.
