Mackay family are helping with Typhoon Haiyan clean-up
A MACKAY woman's family are lucky to be alive after Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines on Friday.
10,000 people are feared dead and nearly 750,000 people were forced to flee their homes because of the devastating storm that has been reported as being the worst in the country's history.
The family of a Mackay woman who huddled together when the typhoon hit are currently partaking in the clean-up effort and getting food, water and clothing together to help the victims whose homes were destroyed.
