MADD 2015 Spectacular a success
ROCKHAMPTON State High School's MADD (Music, Art, Dance and Drama) 2015 Spectacular was an energetic and highly entertaining showcase of the talents of the dedicated and creative Performing and Visual Arts students of Rockhampton State High School.
Taking place on Friday the 16th of October at the Pilbeam Theatre, the show was an eclectic, toe-tapping, fun-filled journey through the celebration of cultures and featuring acts from the circus, music hall, RSHS's Indigenous dancers and more.
Drawn from a myriad of eras, audience members found themselves humming along to the nostalgic tunes of Little People, Pink Panther and The Baby Elephant Walk.
There was a variety of acts, from the highly energetic dance steps of Lady Marmalade and Brittany Spears Circus, to the melodic sounds of the String Ensemble playing the Haunted Carousel. Primary School students from Allenstown, Bajool and Stanwell delighted all who attended as they danced and presented their interpretation of Afro Circus.
Many RSHS students happily took on the role of mentor for students from the Primary schools.
The show was created by the students with all Dance numbers choreographed by students and all Drama acts scripted by students.
All students interested were invited and encouraged to participate.
Many students commented that it was a night that they will always remember for the fun that was had and the friendships that they made throughout the experience.
RSHS's MADD showcase will culminate with The MADD Art Expo, an exhibition of student artwork on Wednesday the 11th of November within the school's Art building beginning at 5:30pm.
