Maddy awarded for sharing her story

YEPPOON State High School student Maddy Field recently took home the Junior Literary award at the Rocky Wellness Festival.

Maddy wrote about a part of her life that was difficult and had it printed as a photo book.

She won $200 of vouchers from Smiggle, Cotton On, Dymocks and Target.

Maddy decided to write the story to help her deal with her anger.

She hoped it would help people see what happens in life with kids.

Maddy also received some very positive feedback from the judge of the competition.

"Maddy's story reveals a strength of character in her voluntarily sharing some of the most innermost parts of her heart and soul,” the judge said.

"She should be incredibly proud of her fearlessness in not only sharing her story but her emotional self-awareness and ability to identify her feelings and reactions, and her resolve to continue to overcome her own inner battles.”

Maddy said: "It was really exciting to win the award. I was nervous going up to get the award, but it was really fun.”
