Family petitions for killers to reveal body location

THE FAMILY of murder victim Gail Lynch is encouraging as many people as possible to sign a petition asking the State Government to amend legislation that would make it compulsory for convicted killers to disclose the whereabouts of their victim before receiving parole.

Warwick woman Gail Lynch was murdered in the days after she was last seen by family outside her Guy St unit on July 3, 2012.

Rockville man Ian Phillip Hannaford, 61, was last week convicted of Ms Lynch's murder and is serving a life sentence in jail.

However, he has never disclosed where Ms Lynch's body is, leaving her family with the added grief of not having had the chance to say goodbye or hold a funeral.

"We need to know where she is," Ms Lynch's sister Lyn McMillan said.

"That would be the dot on the 'i' that would make it complete."

Ms Lynch's son Simon Hutchison said after the verdict that he could never forgive Hannaford for what he had done to his mother and for what he continues to do to his family by refusing to disclose where her body is.

Ms McMillan urged people to go online and sign the petition which can be found at http://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/work-of-assembly/petitions/e-petition?PetNum=2473

"I have already signed it and shared it on my Facebook page and other people are now sharing it," Ms McMillan said.

"I have also put the link on the website I have for Gail."

Ms McMillan intends having a public memorial to her sister later this year in Warwick so she can thank everyone who has supported the family through the ordeal since Ms Lynch went missing more than three years ago.
