Makeup artist to give brides big day tips
THERE is nothing better than helping a bride prepare for her big day.
And Rachel Holloway gets to do that as part of her job.
The owner of Bloom Nail and Makeup has had a love of cosmetics since she can remember.
Rachel said she loves being around for weddings, helping women look beautiful on the most important day of their life.
"(Doing bridal makeup) was nerve-wracking at first, but I'm a perfectionist and I always want to achieve the results brides are after," Rachel said.
"It's about communicating with the bride and understanding what they like and want their look to be."
The Napoleon-trained makeup artist is eager to meet with brides as she is one of 12 wedding suppliers that will feature at the CQ Wedding Showcase on Sunday.
The showcase is new to the region and will see brides and grooms-to-be attend and connect with suppliers, while experiencing a first hand taste of how their own wedding could be.
The showcase is unique in that it will be arranged as a wedding, with caterers on hand and a live wedding ceremony performed. Suppliers, such as Tall Pines Florist, will have a demonstration along with a handful of other local suppliers.
The event is the brainchild of wedding celebrant Zac Garven(pictured) who wanted to provide inspiration to brides and grooms-to-be at a boutique event.
"The showcase is setting a benchmark for the community interested in on-trend weddings and offering a sophisticated insight to suit every love story," Zac said.
"When couples book me as their celebrant, there are usually many facets of their wedding they have yet to book and ask me for inspiration.
"I love recommending other local suppliers based on what I feel will fit best for the couples' ceremony, style and location."
The Married by Zac business owner says the hardest part of curating the first showcase was choosing just one of every supplier category.
Zac says the region has plenty to offer when it comes to tying the knot.
"I am amazed at the variety of locations couples choose or create to be married at, our diverse region offers beach, bush, forest, caves, creeks, gardens, and some amazing buildings," he said.
The 12 local suppliers will give demonstrations at the showcase, including a live ring sketch with Jewellery Designs by Scott Jones, and a tour of the bridal suites at Empire Rockhampton.
