Man, 23, jailed for possession of stolen firearms

A 23-YEAR-OLD Rockhampton man was sentenced to nine months jail earlier this week for possessing stolen firearms.

Duane Everett Warcon pleaded guilty in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court to receiving tainted property, possessing weapons, possessing explosives and possessing an air rifle.

The court heard Warcon's mate stole two hand guns and a rifle and gave them to him. Police later located the weapons, as well as ammo, in his bedroom and at another address.

The court heard he had a long criminal history.

He will be eligible for parole on September 16.
