Murder charge for unborn baby kill

THE man accused of unlawfully wounding pregnant 24-year-old Tenille Hass has now been charged with her murder and the killing of her unborn baby.

Craig Andrew Holzberger, 36, will appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court today on the two new charges.

Holzberger was due to appear in May on charges of unlawful wounding, but his hearing was brought forward yesterday after police escorted him under guard from his Woodford Correctional Centre cell to the Bundaberg Watchhouse.

The charges relate to an incident in the early hours of March 21, when police were called to an Avoca home following a reported disturbance and found the body of Miss Hass. She was seven months pregnant.

A post-mortem examination was carried out, but the results have not been released.

Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Senior Sergeant Joe Hildred yesterday said the upgrade of charges was a result of ongoing investigations.

“Other evidence has been gathered which has allowed investigators to take this course of action,” he said.
