Man, 60, dies in waters off Noosa Beach

A 60-YEAR-old man has died in waters off Noosa Beach from a suspected heart attack.

Surf Life Saving Queensland Sunshine Coast regional manager Aaron Purchase said lifeguards responded to the incident close to the western tower on the beach about 8.40am.

A member of the public was the first to spot the man in the water.

They alerted the lifeguards who brought him to shore to commence CPR.

"He was surfing at the time and it's believed he suffered a heart attack," Mr Purchas said.

A Department of Community Safety spokeswoman said paramedics responded to a man on the beach who was unconscious and not breathing.
