Man accused of murder after stomping on another's head

A ROCKHAMPTON man has been charged with murder following the death of a victim of assault earlier this year.

Police allege Stanley Stanley, 42, stomped on his victim's head during a brutal attack at a Koongal home on April 22.

Stanley was originally charged with grievous bodily harm in relation to the altercation.

However, the 59-year-old victim died in hospital on May 15.

Stanley appeared in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday via video link.

The court heard police were replacing Stanley's original charge with one of murder.

No plea was entered and no application for bail was made on Stanley's behalf.

Stanley was remanded in custody until December 11 for a committal mention.
