Baralaba man in court tomorrow after alleged assault

A MAN will face court next week after allegedly breaking into a house in Baralaba and threatening a man inside.

Around 10.30pm last night, police were called to Short St after reports that a 28-year-old man had broken into a house and was threatening the occupants.

A police officer arrived on scene and was allegedly confronted by a man armed with a length of timber. It will be alleged the man threatened the officer and advanced upon him.

The officer deployed his taser and was able to take the man into custody. Investigations into the disturbance have led to charges being laid for the alleged wilful damage of a vehicle, forced entry into the house and assault of a 58-year-old man inside the home.

The 58-year-old man was treated at the scene for a laceration to his neck.

A Baralaba man has been charged with wilful damage, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, serious assault police whilst armed and common assault.

He is expected to appear at the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on November 23.
