Man arrested with a firearm, ammo and a stolen car

POLICE have arrested a man with a gun and ammunition in a stolen car yesterday.

Police say they located the 47-year-old Jimboomba man sitting in the vehicle at a Bushman Drive address around 4:30pm.

They told the man to exit the vehicle and arrested him on another matter.

A search of the car found a firearm and ammunition.

A further check found the car was stolen.

Police have charged the man with one count each of Unlawful possession of a category H weapon, Possess shortened firearm, Receive tainted property, Authority required to possess explosives, Unlawful use of a motor vehicle and Unlicenced driving.

The man is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday February 27.
