Man assaulted at Correctional Centre remains in hospital

UPDATE 1pm: A 23-year-old man is still being treated at Rockhampton Hospital after being assaulted by two other prisoners. 

The man was taken to hospital around 5.30pm Tuesday afternoon post-assault with facial injuries.

The two other prisoners were transferred to the Detention Unit.

Officers were in the area at the time and responded immediately.

There were no weapons involved.

Initial Story: ROCKHAMPTON's Queensland Ambulance and Emergency Services attended Rockhampton's Capricorn Correctional Centre this afternoon after a man was assaulted.

The man, believed to be in his early 20s, was assaulted by two other prisoners, and was left injured and requiring treatment.

He sustained facial injuries and was transported to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.
