Man caught bringing a knife to the courthouse

A NEBO man who tried to enter Mackay Courthouse with a knife will now have to return to the premises to face weapons charges.

Mackay police Senior Constable Steve Smith said the 61-year-old man had walked into the courthouse at 12.30pm on Monday, but had been stopped at a standard security screening.

The screening revealed a knife and police officers were called to interview the man.

He was served with a notice to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on November 17 on the charge of unlawfully possessing a knife in public.
