Man charged for trying to visit 13-year-old boy for sex

David Stuart

A GOLD Coast man, 36, will face charges after allegedly trying to have a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old boy.

Police detectives pounced on the man as he visited the home of the teenage boy after meeting him on a dating app.

Details are scarce on the arrest, but Detective Inspector Mark White said children could be at risk while using online applications or the internet more broadly.

"Parents should ensure they monitor the use of the internet, including phone applications, by their children and that they educate their children and themselves in internet safety," he said.
