Man evades police only to be chased by shark

TALK about out of the frying pan into the fire!

A US man made a break from police by diving into the ocean after he was stopped for "carrying illegal contraband" in his car in North Carolina.

However, the man went from being chased by the blue-and-white to being chased by the fin-and-teeth when a large shark picked up his trail.

In the video, the man can be seen swimming out to sea, stopping and then turning, presumably to check on the whereabouts of the predator.

The shark reportedly got to within 8m but he ultimately made his escape and reached the safety of land.

But two lucky breaks don't make an escape and the police eventually got their man after arresting him on a nearby beach.
