Man fled after bullets fired
UPDATE 11.30am: POLICE want to speak to a 36-year-old man who fled from a North Rockhampton home after shots were fired at the house this morning.
Detective Sergeant Nick Williams told a press conference at the Rockhampton police station that the man was a known drug offender and had been staying at the Kerrigan St house for only a week.
Another 50-year-old man, also inside the house at the time, had told police he was asleep when the four shot gun pellets were fired at the house.
Numerous triple zero calls were received from members of the public about 3.30am.
Multiple police units attended the address, and upon arrival discovered gunshot damage to the exterior of a house.
Det Sgt Williams said police had no description of the alleged shooter and could not say whether it was a drive-by shooting or whether the offender had fled on foot.
He said one neighbour had reported hearing a person running through a garden about 20 minutes after the shooting.
One neighbour said she was woken by the sound of the gun shots.
“It was pretty loud and woke us up.
“We’ve just moved here so it’s a good start,” she said light-heartedly.
No one was injured as a result of this incident.
The Criminal Investigation Branch, Scenes of Crime officers and Forensic police are currently at the scene conducting investigations.
