Man injured in quad bike accident
A 24-YEAR-OLD man was flown to Mackay Hospital late Friday after his quad bike flipped and landed on him on a property 60km south-west of Clermont.
RACQ-CQ Rescue, who flew the man to hospital, said the man suffered a fractured right ankle and injuries to his shoulder and back.
He was mustering on Karmoo Station when his quad bike flipped about 4.30pm.
A makeshift landing area was organised beside a dam on the property to ensure a safe landing for the helicopter at 7.30pm.
The chopper pilot, Rick Kendall, said night landings in the scrub were always a challenge, but mustering hands on the station helped by using their vehicle headlights to shine light onto an area for the crew to land safely.
