Man jumps to safety as fire destroys boat at Statue Bay

A MAN jumped overboard and reached safety as fire destroyed a boat at Statue Bay last night.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said the 000 call came in at 9.40pm.

She said one auxillary unit attended the fire which destroyed the vessel.

The spokeswoman said there was only one person on board when the fire started.

"He made his way off the boat safely," she said.
