Police identify man killed in Picnic Point crash
UPDATE 9AM: Crash investigators will probe whether speed or a medical condition were major contributing factors to this morning's fatality in Picnic Point.
Police have identified the man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, as a 93-year-old Rangeville resident.
Police said the crash was discovered by early morning walkers along Tourist Rd who reported the incident to the Queensland Ambulance Service which arrived on scene about 5.15am.
The man died at the scene.
Police are working to notify the man's family.
Tourist Rd was closed for several hours and Forensic Crash Unit investigators marked the scene in an effort to determine what caused the fatality.
The road has since re-opened.
BREAKING 8AM: A man has died after a single-vehicle crash in Rangeville this morning.
Initial investigations suggest a man, aged in his 80s, died after his car hit a tree on Tourist Rd at Picnic Point early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 5.15am.
Tourist Rd has been re-opened to all vehicles as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
Motorists are warned of delays on the Toowoomba Range.
