Dirt bike rider rescued after being stranded on salt flats
UPDATE 2PM: A SPOKESPERSON for RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service confirmed the rescue chopper transported a dirt bike rider after a motorcycle accident on the salt flats at Mulambin.
The dirt bike rider was travelling at approximately 80km/h when the rear wheel slid then gripped and threw the rider off.
The man was initially treated on scene by a QAS Paramedics for a severe fractured left leg.
The spokesperson confirmed that due to the location of the accident and with the ground surface being quite soft a vehicle was unable to be deployed directly to the scene.
UPDATE 10.50AM: THE RACQ Rescue Helipcopter is on scene at Mulambin Beach.
Authorities confirmed the rescue chopper had to be called to transport the 41-year-old male due to the location of the incident.
The man has fractured his leg and will be transported to the Rockhampton Hospital.
UPDATE 9.40AM: IT appears crews are having difficulty accessing the man due to his location.
9.30am: EMERGENCY crews are on their way to a motorcycle accident at Mulambin.
Accordng to reports a 41-year-old man has been injured and is located on the salt flats of Mulambin Beach.
Paramedics and police are on their way.
