Man sees court after allegedly stealing truck from a depot

A MAN has been charged following an incident in Rockhampton last night.

At around 8.25pm a truck was reportedly stolen from a transport depot on Park Avenue.

Around 8.45pm police attempted to intercept the truck after they observed the vehicle travelling on Stenlake Avenue. 

The truck allegedly drove through a red light to evade police.

The vehicle was last observed by police travelling north on the Bruce Highway.

Around 11.45pm the truck was intercepted without incident on Armstrong Beach Road, Sarina and the driver who was the sole occupant of the vehicle was taken into custody.

The 34-year-old Rockhampton male driver was charged with one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, wilful damage, dangerous operation of a vehicle and fail to stop motor vehicle. 

The man is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court this morning.
