The two men and two women, believed to be aged in their 20s, stole a number of items from the home, including a black 2005 Kawasaki 600 motorcycle.
Luke Peachey, Detective Senior Sargent Officer in Charge, Rockhampton CIB, said police are seeking public help to identify the four offenders.
"At around 12.45am yesterday morning it appears that four offenders have entered an address on Margaret Street, Allenstown," he said.
"They have forced entry into that address by smashing a window near a door and then reaching through and opening the door.
"Once inside that dwelling they have made threats to the occupants in regards to wanting a motorcycle and as a result they have assaulted one of the occupants, a 36-year-old male.
"It appears that he was both punched and then struck in the face with a hammer which has caused him significant facial injuries including loss of teeth and a smashed jaw and eye socket."
As the attack was taking place, the other resident, a 43-year-old woman, fled the scene.
The offenders fled the address with the motorcycle, an XBox, a laptop and jewellery.
The man sustained serious injuries to his face and was transported to Brisbane for treatment.
Police understand one of the attackers armed themselves with a hammer found at the address.
Det. Snr. Sgt Peachey said police are urging anyone with information on the attackers or the whereabouts of the stolen bike to contact police.
"At this stage we know that there are four Caucasian persons; two males and two females, all around the age of 20," he said.
"We know that they were at that address and appear to have some knowledge of that address as they were looking for that person or motorcycle.
"We are also on the lookout for a 2005 Kawasaki 600 motorcycle, registration 66PY.
"If anyone has any information in regards to the identity of the persons involved in this assault or the location of the motorcycle, they should contact Crime Stoppers or Rockhampton CIB."
