Man suffers serious burns while refuelling aircraft

RACQ CareFlight Rescue has airlifted a pilot with serious burns following an accident at Maryborough Airport this afternoon.

The Sunshine Coast-based helicopter was tasked to the scene around 4.15pm to retrieve the 50 year old man who was trying to refuel his aircraft when static from the bowser sparked the small fire, causing burns to his hands and arms.

He was treated by QAS paramedics on the ground before being airlifted by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew to Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital, where he'll be cared for in the Burns Unit.

He was in a stable condition at the time of travel.
