Man's construction site rampage

POLICE have charged a man, 43, on a number of charges after he allegedly caused "hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage" during a Christmas Day rampage at the Harvey Norman construction site at Emerald.

It's alleged the man used a front-end loader to cause extensive damage to buildings and equipment on the site.

He faces charges, including 12 counts of willful damage, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, drink-driving and possessing a dangerous drug.

The incident occurred about 6.50pm.

The man is expected to appear at the Emerald Magistrates Court.
